Prestigious History in Oak Barn Restoration & Conversion

Anthony Hicks

Anthony Hicks first built the business on a foundation of twenty year's experience in the engineering market. Having grown up in the historic town of Rye, Anthony always had an inner passion for oak framed buildings and founded our business in 1980. This wealth of knowledge now underpins one of the largest companies in the UK specialising in both historic building restoration and repair and the manufacture of new oak timber frame homes and traditional oak frame buildings. Anthony Hicks has built an unrivalled reputation for quality and expertise in the restoration and repair of England's historic buildings and this passion continues to burn brightly throughout our company.

Our company is proud to have worked on many prestigious projects throughout England, Germany, France and North America, where our dedicated team of specialist carpenters have employed traditional carpentry skills to achieve outstanding results every time. Our commitment to conservation can be clearly seen in our building restoration services. Where we can repair or replace daub panels, lime render panels, lime mortar brick works, leaded light repairs, joinery and many other essential repairs to historic and traditional buildings, we will.

We are renowned for offering a truly bespoke service which meets the specific needs of every customer. From new oak framed building designs which reflect a contemporary lifestyle, to the traditional oak framed building designs for which we are renowned, our highly skilled craftsmen always exercise a superior attention to detail, ensuring the highest quality workmanship.

We can assure a service which has quality at its core and puts you, the client, at the centre of the process. Our goal is to give you what you want, with a willingness to work with you to meet your needs and provide you with a building of exceptional quality. Our oak framed buildings are made by hand by skilled craftsman who take personal pride in their work. In our experience, a company who chooses to steer their clients towards a mechanically made building, simply provides an inferior product for a similar cost.

"Our purpose is to provide the highest quality craftsmanship and unrivalled service to our customers. Our aim is to provide this with the efficiency to do it more economically than our competitors"

Mr & Mrs Fraser
“ We took a long time to find the right company to build our dream but it was worth it, "we found the best"”
Mr & Mrs Duggleby
“ I have used Anthony Hicks three times now on projects and I have recommended them to several friends who have also used their services. There are many people professing to build this type of structure and the magazines are littered with such adverts. However none of them in my opinion match the design and finish that Anthony Hicks can provide. I definitely think they use more timber and bigger sizes in the construction. The last building was almost entirely constructed without any metal fittings on the frame as it would have been hundreds of years ago . I am now looking for a site for a new build and I will be speaking to Anthony Hicks in the future”
Mr & Mrs Andrews
“ The finished product is testament to the enthusiasm and professional attitude that is Anthony Hicks, from the start stages of design through to the fabrication and build of the oak frame and associated works the project was carried out with exceptional care and attention to detail and I cannot thank the team enough for beautiful home that we now enjoy.”
