Safety Training

You can rest assured that all employees undertake a set of health and safety training tailored for the construction industry. In addition to this we also provide task specific training such as forklift driver, dumper, digger driver training, chainsaw training, PASMA and first aid at work. All training is reviewed and renewed at regular intervals. This ensures that competent and responsible personnel will always represent our company on site.

Tools Knowledge

All tools and equipment are continuously safety checked by Site Foreman and spot checked on a regular basis by the Contracts Mangers during their visits. Our company actively promotes the use of tool kowledge and safety. Any defective tools are taken out of use and are immediately repaired or replaced by the company. Personnel are only permitted to use tools and machinery once they have passed the appropriate training. Contract Managers are fully aware of the capabilities of each and every site operative and allocate tasks specific to competency and training to ensure the safety of all on site.

At Anthony Hicks we employ a large team of skilled craftsmen. This provides us with the ability to ensure that experienced team leaders are always present on each and every project. Our Contract Managers are mindful at scheduling stage to allocate experienced teams to their specific tasks.

Safety First

With Anthony Hicks you can be guaranteed that Health and Safety is at the forefront of our work ethos. Before commencement of every project careful consideration is given to the health and safety of our customers, site operatives and general public to ensure they are not placed in danger but the works being undertaken by our company. We will provide written site specific risk assessments and method statements which will be present on each site together with other documentation as necessary. In addition to this our company undertakes an annual independent assessment by SMAS to reassure our customers of our compliance and continual commitment to Health and Safety.

Regulations

Careful consideration is given to regulations and our company undertakes regular checks with HSE to ensure compliance. Our Contract Managers are SMSTS trained and are registered to receive updates from HSE and SMAS.

Insurance

Anthony Hicks has built a long and trusted relationship with NFU Mutual and they have remained our preferred insurance providers for many years. We undertake a full review on an annual basis of our Public and Product Liability Insurance, Employers Liability Insurance and Vehicle Fleet Insurance. Copies of or Insurance Certificates can be provided at any time upon request.

Health

The health of our operatives is paramount and we have systems and checks in place to ensure that every effort is made to protect the ongoing health of our employees. All employees who are exposed to sawdust are provided with annual health check assessments. Additionally, all projects are independently checked by a specialist company where there is a possible risk of asbestos being present. Asbestos inspections are carried out prior to work commencing and ensures the continual safety of our customers and all onsite personnel.

Protection

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) came into force on 6th April 2015. Complying with CDM 2015 will help ensure that no-one is harmed during the work, and that your building is safe to use and maintain while giving you good value. Effective planning will also help ensure that your work is well managed with fewer unexpected costs and problems.

A principal contractor is required to plan, manage and coordinate the construction work and have the skills, knowledge and experience to identify, reduce and manage health and safety risks.
