Oak Frame Extension

Having previously designed and built an oak frame extension to their existing property our client contacted us to discuss another building that they had in mind.

We were asked to design an oak frame that would compliment their home and work in harmony with their existing oak frame buildings. The building also needed to be designed for duel purposes, to cater for the owners private car collection and a venue for entertaining guests.

After drawing up the frame design and receiving approval from our client, manufacture of the frame began.  As with all frames manufactured by Anthony Hicks, we used substantial oak beams and incorporated natural curved braces to accentuate the hand crafted quality of the build.  In keeping with its surroundings the building was designed with traditional lime mortar panels to expose the oak frame.  These lime panels have a unique method of construction particular to Anthony Hicks. The panel build up offers exceptional insulation properties whist designed to be sympathetic with any movement of the frame as it ages, providing a firm foundation to assist any future maintenance requirements.

The completed oak frame building blends in seamlessly and will provide a place to be enjoyed by many generations to come.

I have used Antony Hicks three times now on projects and I have recommended them to several friends who have also used their services. There  are many people professing to build this type of structure and the magazines are littered with such adverts. However none of them in my opinion match the design and finish that Anthony Hicks can provide.  I definitely think they use more timber and bigger sizes in the construction. The last building was almost entirely constructed without any metal fittings on the frame as it would have been hundreds of years ago .

I am now looking for a site for a new build and I will be speaking to Anthony Hicks in the future
