Doctors Barn

The original owner commissioned Chartered Architect Colin Humphrey to prepare a design and attempt to/and obtain Planning permission. This was done and the barn was sold to the new owner who appointed Anthony Hicks Ltd to bring the design with planning approval to reality on site.  By the time we were contacted by the new owner, this listed barn was on the verge of collapse and was in urgent need of extensive repairs which had to be carefully considered before we could begin works on the barn conversion.

We provided a plan of repair together with a detailed quotation for the complete repair costs, featheredge weatherboard and insulation to form a warm roof. It was important to our client that a specific budget was met for the project and no unforeseen costs were incurred at a later date.  This was achieved due to our experience on restoring oak frame buildings, coupled with a fixed quotation which fell within budget.

Works were completed within the desired timescale and on budget. The finished property provided a contemporary open plan living area, paying close attention to detail as is necessary to achieve a successful minimalist interior.
