The new oak frame extension to Corner Farm was a very exciting project with a set of unique and interesting challenges.
The property had an existing out building which was to be removed, a new oak framed extension would to be built in its place and then linked to the main house. Our clients wanted to make full use of a two story extension while keeping to the existing single story ridge height. We overcame this by lowering the new ground floor level sufficiently so that both floor levels had full ceiling heights. The new frame was hand built using traditional jointing methods, incorporating large section oak beams and designed to maximise every inch of space. To marry the two buildings, we manufactured a new glazed link and clad the new extension with white weatherboard in keeping with the main house.
A bespoke staircase was designed and built to compliment the property and this has become one of the many stunning and unique features of this project. We were also asked to supply solid oak flooring and handmade oak joinery which was fitted with traditional ironmongery, providing a very luxurious and warm feel throughout.
We would not hesitate to recommend Anthony Hicks as a company. Simply put, they are a fantastic group of people who are very good at what they do and who always ensure that they do the best job possible.
