Where joinery repairs are required, we focus on saving as much of the original timber as possible. Our expert knowledge has enabled us to carry out the repair and restoration of historic buildings and structures, combining traditional carpentry methods with proven modern day techniques to ensure those structures last well into the future.
Our dedicated teams of craftsmen pay great attention to detail, undertaking sympathetic joinery repairs which involve splicing in new sections of timber to blend seamlessly with the existing wood. We can also use a resin compound or a combination of resin and new timber to create a strong repair.
Leaded light windows are a feature of many historic buildings, and Anthony Hicks has extensive specialist experience of repairing and restoring them to their original beauty.
The frames are carefully removed and replaced by temporary panels, which will remain in place while the repairs are undertaken. The original frames are carefully transported to our workshop, where they are meticulously repaired and returned to their original condition, with careful attention to detail by our expert craftsmen.
Where necessary defective and worn lengths of lead came will be replaced by new lengths, in addition to new glass panels where required. The frames are then carefully returned and restored to the building.
“ We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all at Anthony Hicks. The whole team were extremely professional and efficient from the initail design meetings through to Practical completion. We are extremely proud of what has been produced and would not hesitate to recommend them” Mr & Mrs Fraser
“ I have used Anthony Hicks three times now on projects and I have recommended them to several friends who have also used their services. There are many people professing to build this type of structure and the magazines are littered with such adverts. However none of them in my opinion match the design and finish that Anthony Hicks can provide. I definitely think they use more timber and bigger sizes in the construction. The last building was almost entirely constructed without any metal fittings on the frame as it would have been hundreds of years ago . I am now looking for a site for a new build and I will be speaking to Anthony Hicks in the future” Mr & Mrs Andrews
“ The finished product is testament to the enthusiasm and professional attitude that is Anthony Hicks, from the start stages of design through to the fabrication and build of the oak frame and associated works the project was carried out with exceptional care and attention to detail and I cannot thank the team enough for beautiful home that we now enjoy.” Mr & Mrs Mason, Nr Maidstone, Kent
“ We took a long time to find the right company to build our dream but it was worth it, "we found the best"” Mr & Mrs Duggleby
“ We have been very pleased with all the work which Anthony Hicks have done for us. They have shown very great attention to detail, and provide excellent and personal customer service.” Mr & Mrs D
